2. Dawki – Meghalaya
Dawki in West Jaintia Hills is known for the crystal-clear Umngot River where
boat rides feel like floating on air. Nearby attractions include Jaflong Zero Point,
Byrdaw Falls, Rymben Falls and Dainthlen Falls. Dawki is often called one of the
cleanest rivers in Asia.

5. Sela Pass & Tawang – Arunachal Pradesh
Sela Pass (around 4,170 m) connects Tawang with Dirang and Guwahati and is one of
the highest motorable passes. Snow-clad mountains, frozen lakes and monasteries
around Tawang make it one of the most beautiful regions in Northeast India.

6. Dong – Arunachal Pradesh
Dong is a small village in Anjaw district near the tri-junction of India, China and
Myanmar. It is known as the Land of India’s First Sunrise. Trekkers climb to a
nearby viewpoint at dawn to witness the first rays of the sun on the Indian horizon.

7. Mechuka (Menchukha) – Arunachal Pradesh
A picturesque valley town at around 6,000 ft, Mechuka is surrounded by snow peaks,
rivers and old monasteries. The name Menchukha comes from “Men” (medicinal),
“Chu” (water) and “Kha” (ice) – locals believe the river water has medicinal value.

8. Nameri National Park – Assam
Located in Sonitpur district at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, Nameri is a
Tiger Reserve and is also known for elephants, rare birds and fish in the Jia Bharali
river. You can combine Nameri with Kaziranga in the same road trip.

9. Kamakhya Temple – Guwahati, Assam
One of the most important Shakti Peethas, Kamakhya Temple sits on Nilachal Hill in
Guwahati. It is a major Tantric centre and hosts the famous Ambubachi Mela.

The historic Ahom capital, Sivasagar is known for its palaces, tanks and temples.
Key attractions include Talatal Ghar, Rang Ghar, Ahom Museum, Gaurisagar Tank,
Kareng Ghar and Sibsagar Lake.
